Seasonal Mood Boards

I've recently had some fun creating seasonal mood boards for a recent interview! More to come I am sure!

This is a really great exercise in putting together seasonal color palettes.

The Chest Of Drawers and The Embroidered Bride FEATURED

As most of you may know, I have two Etsy shops that have been a fun way for me to keep doing what I love and at the same time share it with others!

The Chest Of Drawers

The Chest Of Drawers features wearable fiber jewelry as well as color study hoops that are composed of hundreds of french knots. These hoops create an hombre effect and are beautiful little pieces of art for anyone to hang in their home!

The Embroidered Bride

The Embroidered Bride is my sister shop on Etsy, where you can find anything custom and unique for your upcoming event. Perfect for the Rustic/ Vintage Chic Bride among other fabulous wedding themes. I take custom orders and attempt to make each piece a unique addition to your wedding decor or a fabulous wedding gift.

"Seeing" My Final piece from the Fabric Workshop and Museum Apprentice Program

Sorry all it's been quite some time since I have been able to post to this blog! After finding out that my mother was diagnosed with two types of cancer this January and June, I have been quite distracted. Thankfully after many prayers and some tough months she is doing much much better! And now I can update this blog with everything that I have been up to!!!

The following are images of my final piece from The Fabric Workshop, December 2012.

Titled "Seeing" this piece was inspired by Islamic mosaic tiles and the representation of Allah through these patterns. Continuing with my exploration of religion and its relationship to tradition and society.

                                                                   The Final Piece
The process of creating this textile pattern was quite difficult. I began with one drawing and from there created three drawings on vellum - to scale- of which each color would be printed to create the overall design. After hours of sampling colors I chose three versions of primary colors. When printed on top of one another created 6 colors through the use of only three screens.

First Layer of Blue.

Second Screen in Red. (Creating three colors)

Printing the third and final screen in yellow with fellow apprentices and our friend Cary of the FWM.
